The Macallan launches James Bond inspired Scotch

The Macallan has unveiled The Macallan Diamonds Are Forever 55th Anniversary Release, a single malt Scotch whisky marking 55 years since the James Bond film debuted on the big screen. The launch reinforces the long-standing association between the Speyside distiller and the Bond franchise.

The Macallan Diamonds Are Forever 55th Anniversary Release

Created by The Macallan Whisky Maker Russell Greig, the expression was distilled in 2007 and matured for 18 years. The whisky has been crafted using a combination of sherry-seasoned European and American oak casks, alongside American oak casks that previously held red wine. This cask selection is intended to reflect themes from the film, particularly Bond’s discerning understanding of wine and his ability to detect hidden details.

Bottled at 45.5 percent ABV, the whisky delivers aromas of polished oak, vanilla and dried fruits, with a palate of caramel, cocoa, fruit notes and gentle spice, followed by a long, refined finish. Its natural colour is said to echo the red and orange hues of the Nevada desert featured in the film’s Las Vegas setting.

The bottle and presentation box draw directly from original Diamonds Are Forever production artwork held in the official Bond archives. The limited-edition release is available at a suggested retail price of USD 750.
