The Macallan releases The Tree of Life Collection

The Macallan has launched The Tree of Life Collection, a new artistic series of single malts inspired by renowned Scottish artist and architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh. The collection includes two limited-edition expressions — The Tree of Life by The Macallan and The Macallan Art is the Flower.

Macallan Tree of Life CollectionThe Tree of Life by The Macallan is a rare 46-year-old single malt, limited to just 112 Lalique decanters globally. The whisky was drawn from two Sherry seasoned casks laid down in 1979. It pays tribute to Mackintosh’s retreat to nature at the age of 46, a time that marked a creative turning point in his life.

Bottled at 46.2 percent  ABV, the expression is described by Master Whisky Maker Kirsteen Campbell as a unique, vibrant, and complex single malt featuring notes of tropical fruits, smouldering peat, wood spice, and antique oak. It is available via invitation only, with pricing on request.

The Macallan Art is the FlowerThe second release, The Macallan Art is the Flower, celebrates Mackintosh’s floral motifs and European influence. Aged in Sherry-seasoned European oak casks, this expression delivers notes of raisin, fig, cherry, almonds, and polished oak. Bottled at 50.4 percent ABV, it will be available from 6 May 2025 at The Macallan Estate and select luxury retailers including Harrods, The Whisky Shop, and Berry Bros. & Rudd.

The launch is accompanied by documentary style films highlighting the connection between art and nature, underscoring The Macallan’s tribute to Mackintosh’s enduring legacy.
