Woodford Reserve unveils new bourbon-rye blend

Woodford Reserve has announced the latest release in its Distillery Series: Tawny Port Finish, a limited-edition blend of bourbon and rye whiskey. The new expression includes a portion of bourbon finished in tawny port barrels and is bottled at 90.4 proof.

This marks a creative addition to the Distillery Series, which began in 2015 to explore innovative whiskey styles. According to Master Distiller Elizabeth McCall, the release highlights both blending skill and barrel experimentation, with the port barrels contributing notes of wood and concentrated fruit.

The whiskey delivers a flavour profile that includes cinnamon, cherry, caramel, baked pecan, salted dark chocolate and rum-soaked raisins. Only part of the blend underwent port barrel finishing; full component details were not disclosed.

Available in 375ml bottles for $65, the release is limited to the distillery and select Kentucky retailers.
