1800 Tequila unveiled the world’s first-ever tequila diamond during one of the most-watched red carpet events of the season, marking a groundbreaking fusion of science, sustainability, and luxury. The debut took place on fashion’s biggest Monday, coinciding with Cinco de Mayo, when Grammy-nominated musician, actor, and producer Janelle Monáe wore the unique creation as a bespoke brooch.
Crafted not from Earth-mined carbon but from 1800’s award-winning Cristalino tequila, the diamond represented a new era of ethical luxury. Designed by acclaimed jeweler Jonathan Raksha of Maison Raksha, the brooch took inspiration from the iconic 1800 Cristalino bottle and the blue Weber agave plant, with an inverted setting that mirrored the plant’s sharp form.
The launch continued 1800 Tequila’s legacy of innovation in the category. 1800 Cristalino, the tequila behind the diamond, is aged for 16 months in new American and French oak barrels and finished for six months in port wine casks. The result is a smooth, crystal-clear añejo tequila that, much like a diamond, is defined by its transformation, embodying the clarity, complexity, and brilliance shaped by time and craftsmanship.
