Andhra CM to order CID probe

The Andhra Pradesh government will order an investigation by the Crime Investigation Department (CID) into the alleged irregularities in liquor trade in the southern state during the previous YSR Congress party government’s tenure. An announcement to this effect was made by the Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.

The Chief Minister, while presenting a white paper on the excise policy, which was introduced by the previous government , also informed that following a comprehensive inquiry by the CID, if there is requirement, the state government would even recommend to the centre for a further probe by the Enforcement Directorate. 

He also announced that his  government would revamp the state’s excise department and bring in a new excise policy in the coming days.
