Ardgowan Distillery fills its first cask
Independent single malt whisky producer Ardgowan Distillery Company has officially filled its first cask of new make spirit, marking a major milestone as the first distillery to operate in Inverclyde in over a century.
Led by whisky entrepreneur Roland Grain and Distillery Manager Laura Davies, the distillery combines over 70 years of industry experience. The facility features a striking Scandinavian longhouse design and a 97 percent recycled aluminium roof, underscoring its commitment to sustainability and carbon neutrality.
“After a lengthy build, me and my team are thrilled to now be in full production and filling casks with our own distillate,” said Roland. “Our ultimate goal is to revive the golden age of Scotch whisky with long Sherry cask maturation in European oak.”
Millions have been invested in Ardgowan’s Infinity Casks, specially developed in collaboration with Bodegas Miguel Martín and Macallan’s former Master of Wood, Stuart MacPherson.
A visitor centre is set to open later this summer, offering curated experiences for both novices and whisky connoisseurs.
