Ban surrogate ads for tobacco alcohol Centre to IPL
The Union Health Ministry has urged the Indian Premier League (IPL) to prohibit all tobacco and/or alcohol advertisements, including surrogate promotions, within stadiums and during telecasts of the upcoming season, starting March 22.
In a letter to IPL Chairperson Arun Singh Dhumal, Director General of Health Services (DGHS) Atul Goel also called for a ban on the sale of these products at affiliated events and sports facilities. He emphasised that discouraging surrogate advertising by sports persons could help reduce the consumption of harmful products among the youth.
