Campari to sell Cinzano and Frattina brands
Italian spirits company, Campari Group, has announced the sale of its historic Cinzano vermouth and Frattina grappa brands to domestic rival Caffo Group 1915 for €100 million, marking a significant step in Campari’s strategic portfolio streamlining.
Cinzano, founded in 1757 and known for its aperitif vermouth and sparkling wines, was acquired by Campari in 1999, while Frattina joined the group in 2014. Together, the two brands accounted for 2 percent of Campari’s net sales in 2024, generating approximately €75 million in revenue.
Campari’s newly appointed CEO Simon Hunt, who took the helm in January 2025, said the transaction aligns with the company’s focus on sharpening its commercial and marketing efforts around its core global brands. “This sale marks a key step in our strategy of streamlining our portfolio via disposals,” Simon stated.
The deal includes the sparkling wine lines associated with both brands. The transaction is expected to close by the end of 2025, subject to customary conditions.
