Chhattisgarh shifts liquor sales to online payments

Chhattisgarh’s new Excise Minister, Lakhanlal Devangan, has mandated that all liquor shops in the state switch to 100% online payments. He has also directed 24x7 monitoring of outlets through CCTV systems connected directly to the excise headquarters.

Reviewing the state’s excise operations, the minister called for strict enforcement against illegal liquor and narcotics, with stepped-up vigilance at interstate borders, dhabas, and farmhouses. He also examined licensing procedures, the functioning of the state marketing corporation, and regulations for bars and clubs.
