Delhi court orders review of Pernod’s licence application

New Delhi's court of the Financial Commissioner has ruled that France’s Pernod Ricard cannot be penalised before legal proceedings against the company are completed, requiring local authorities to reconsider its application for a liquor licence, stated media reports.

The order issued on February 13 states that any adverse action must follow a clear conviction by a court of law and the Excise Commissioner has been directed to review the case.

Welcoming the decision, Pernod Ricard has expressed its commitment to working with authorities to secure its licence and resume operations in Delhi, reports added.
