The Delhi government has transferred the authority to issue licences for hospitality and entertainment establishments from the Delhi Police to local civic bodies, with an aim to simplify business operations.

The change affects key segments, including hotels, motels, guest houses, restaurants, eateries, swimming pools, video game parlours, discotheques, auditoriums, and amusement parks.

Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena issued the order on June 22, officially relieving Delhi Police of this responsibility. Going forward, licences and No Objection Certificates (NOCs) will be handled by Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), or Delhi Cantonment Board.
