Delhi’s new excise policy is expected to take shape soon, with the draft likely to be ready within a month. According to media reports, the blueprint has been nearly finalised following a series of stakeholder consultations led by a high-level committee chaired by Public Works Department Minister Parvesh Verma.
As per reports, the new policy will ensure the availability of premium alcobev brands across all liquor shops in the capital. Currently, premium brands are limited to select outlets. The government aims to align Delhi’s market with neighbouring states in terms of brand availability and pricing of premium alcobev products. This move is expected to curb revenue leakages and reduce the outflow of consumers to nearby Noida and Gurugram.
Earlier, the Delhi government had extended the existing excise policy until March 31, 2026, to ensure operational continuity until the new framework is formally implemented.
