Diageo India launches driver sensitisation programme
Diageo India, in collaboration with BharatCares and the Directorate of Transport, Goa, has launched a new Driver Sensitisation Tab Lab at the RTO in Panaji under its flagship road safety initiative, Wrong Side of the Road (WSOTR). The lab was inaugurated by Goa Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant, marking the establishment of WSOTR centres in all RTOs across the state.
Part of Diageo India’s ‘Spirit of Progress’ ESG action plan, WSOTR is a tech-enabled, education-based programme that uses digital tools and real-life scenario simulations to raise awareness about the dangers of drunk driving. The new Tab Lab features a mandatory 45-minute interactive module for new driving licence applicants, aimed at instilling safer driving behaviours through video content and behavioural assessments.
On this initiative, CM Sawant, said, “This small step will have a long-term impact in reducing accidents.”
Devashish Dasgupta, Head of Corporate Relations, Diageo India, added, “Changing attitudes is key to addressing the root causes of drunk driving.”
With over 70 Tab Labs now active across India, Diageo India continues to scale its efforts in promoting road safety. Devashish confirmed, “We are proud to now have a Tab Lab in every RTO across Goa.”
