Diljit Dosanjh's eagerly awaited Pune concert faced an unforeseen setback as the Maharashtra Excise Department revoked the event's liquor license just hours before its commencement.

The decision was made after local political leaders, residents, and organisations expressed worry about the potential repercussions of providing alcohol at the venue.

The event at Suryakant Kakade Farms in Kothrud faced protests from the Nationalist Congress Party's youth wing and senior BJP leader Chandrakant Patil. The opposition stemmed from concerns over noise pollution, traffic congestion, and perceived threats to the area's cultural integrity.

Local organizations also voiced their frustration regarding the potential disturbances to everyday life, specifically pointing to loud music and liquor sale.

CB Rajput, the Superintendent of the Excise Department, said that the revocation of the liquor permit was a result of a complaint lodged by the venue owner.

Rajput mentioned that the organisers were quickly informed about the cancellation, resulting in the concert going ahead without the initially planned alcohol service.
