Gurugram’s Bristol Chowk on Golf Course Road has officially become the most expensive liquor vend zone in Haryana’s history, with G-Town Wines securing the licence for an unprecedented Rs 98.6 crore, marking a 4.2 percent increase over the reserve price of Rs 94.6 crore and nearly double last year’s Rs 49.3 crore. The steep jump is being attributed to the longer 22 month licence term under the 2025–27 excise policy, as opposed to the earlier 12 month tenure.
The auction, part of Haryana's revamped excise policy, drew strong participation, with 50 out of 79 Gurugram East zones fetching Rs 1,270 crore, 6 percent above the reserve. Following Bristol Chowk, DLF-3 and Shankar Chowk were top earners at Rs 63 crore and Rs 62 crore, while Horizon Plaza stood out with Rs 46.2 crore.
Zones like Nawada, South City, and American Express saw bids soaring over 24 percent above their base prices. Officials noted improved interest in this third round of auctions, reflecting confidence in the revised excise regime. Gurugram alone contributes nearly 40 percent to Haryana’s excise earnings, and with more zones set for auction on June 3 and 5, momentum appears strong despite stricter controls.
