Ian Macleod Distillers unveils two single malts for GTR

Scottish whisky maker Ian Macleod Distillers has launched two exclusive single malt Scotch whiskies for the global travel retail channel. These include Glengoyne 12 Year Old First Fill Edition and Tamdhu Speyside Single Malt Gran Reserva Batch 5.

The Glengoyne 12YO First Fill Edition joins the brand’s ‘Spirit of Time’ collection, replacing the earlier 10 YO expression. Matured in a combination of first-fill Oloroso sherry and American oak bourbon casks, this new release comes at a 43 percent ABV. It has already earned recognition, receiving a Gold medal at the International Spirits Challenge 2025.

Head of Global Travel Retail, William Ovens, described it as “a new core expression crafted using only first-fill casks, delivering maximum flavour.” He emphasised its distinct positioning in the travel retail market.

Meanwhile, the Tamdhu Gran Reserva Batch 5 is a 70 cl bottle matured exclusively in European oak first-fill Oloroso sherry casks. Bottled without chill filtration and naturally coloured, it is presented in a luxurious purple and gold gift box. The 46 percent ABV whisky is aged in Tamdhu’s traditional dunnage warehouses in Speyside, Scotland.

“Tamdhu Gran Reserva is the pinnacle of sherry cask maturation,” Ovens said, highlighting its appeal to connoisseurs and collectors.

Tamdhu, produced with natural spring water from the River Spey, has built its identity entirely around sherry cask maturation since its travel retail debut in 2018. The casks are sourced from Jerez, Spain, ensuring depth and complexity in flavour.

The Glengoyne 12YO First Fill Edition and Tamdhu Gran Reserva Batch 5 strengthen Ian Macleod’s premium positioning in the global travel retail market available at $93 and $269, respectively.
