IHM Ranchi empowers women with entrepreneurship training
The Institute of Hotel Management (IHM) Ranchi successfully concluded a training programme on ‘Bakery and Women Entrepreneurship Development’ held from May 13-26. This initiative aimed to empower local women with baking skills and entrepreneurial knowledge, promoting self-reliance and economic independence in the hospitality sector.
Participants were trained in baking an array of products including breads, cookies, pastries, muffins, and tarts. In addition to hands-on culinary sessions, the programme covered key business fundamentals such as hygiene standards, kitchen layout planning, food safety, and financial literacy.
To foster entrepreneurship, sessions on digital marketing, social media branding, FSSAI and GST registration, and business modeling were also conducted. The training culminated in an exhibition where participants showcased their creations, evaluated by chefs from IHM Ranchi and Asit Kundu, General Manager of Capitol Residency.
Expert mentors included Chef Sanjay Jha (Radisson Blu, Ranchi), CA Harsh Agrawal, Kamal Agrawal (President, Jharkhand Caterers Association), and Manisha Oraon (Founder, The Open Field), alongside the IHM faculty.
The Principal of IHM Ranchi Dr. Bhupesh Kumar noted, “This programme was about more than baking; it was about building confidence and an entrepreneurial mindset.”
The event marked another milestone in IHM Ranchi’s commitment to skill-based education and women empowerment.
