International Women’s Day was celebrated at the Institute of Hotel Management (IHM) Ranchi, recognising women’s rights and their social, economic, political, and cultural achievements while promoting equality and eliminating discrimination.

Bhupesh Kumar, the Principal of IHM Ranchi, honoured Captain Sumit Kaur, Principal of Guru Nanak School, with the Shiksha Shakti Award. Other honourees included Pooja Lakra, World Global Tribal Queen 2025; Alisha Gautam, Global Tribal Queen India Earth 2025; Minakshi Prakash from Jharkhand State livelihood Promotion society (JSLPS); Poonam Devi from Palash Didi Café; Sister Preeti, Sister Shaicy, and Sister Cresencia Tete from Amar Jyoti Blind School; Anindita Bhardwaj, Senior Lecturer at IHM Ranchi; and Bidisha Ray, student representative.

IHM Ranchi’s commitment to women’s empowerment through training and entrepreneurshipWelcoming the guests, Bhupesh emphasised women’s contributions across sectors, highlighting IHM Ranchi’s commitment to women’s empowerment through training and entrepreneurship. Captain Sumit encouraged students to develop careers balancing passion and professional demand, stressing men's role in women's success. Pooja and Alisha expressed gratitude and extended Women’s Day wishes to all the women present at the event. Students presented dance, poetry, and skits celebrating women’s empowerment. The event concluded with Holi Milan Samaroh, where guests enjoyed traditional delicacies like dahi vada, malpua, gujiya, mocktails and thandai, prepared by the students and served in the central courtyard.
