Industry giants to unite at AlcoBev India 2025
In a landmark moment for India’s alcoholic beverage industry, all major alcoholic beverage companies will come together to participate in 'AlcoBev India 2025,' set to take place on April 23 in New Delhi. The event is being organized by the Confederation of Indian Alcoholic Beverage Companies (CIABC) in collaboration with the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA). Union Minister of Food Processing Industries, Chirag Paswan, will grace the occasion as the chief guest.
“AlcoBev India 2025 is the first-of-its-kind event for the Indian alcoholic beverage companies, bringing together industry captains, thought leaders, senior government officials/policymakers and other key stakeholders. It is designed to foster meaningful dialogues amongst its key stakeholders, spark innovative ideas, and address critical challenges facing the industry,” said Anant S Iyer, Director General of CIABC.
CIABC, the apex body representing India’s leading alcoholic beverage companies, plays a crucial role in advocating for the industry's growth while acting as a unified and responsible voice.
The conference will feature knowledge sessions on key themes, including taxation reforms, progressive policies for revenue growth, premiumisation, and enhancing global competitiveness. These discussions aim to help meet APEDA’s ambitious goal of reaching $1 billion in alcoholic beverage exports in the coming years.
India’s alcoholic beverage exports touched ₹2,200 crore in FY 2023–24, with major markets including the UAE, Singapore, Netherlands, Tanzania, Angola, Kenya, and Rwanda. India currently ranks 40th globally in alcobev exports, with a vision to be in the top 10 soon. The rise of Indian single malt whiskies is a key indicator of growing global acceptance.
Highlighting the economic impact of the sector, Iyer noted that the alcobev industry contributes over ₹3 lakh crore in taxes annually, and supports ancillary industries like glass, tin, plastic, and paper, with a combined turnover of approximately ₹7,000 crore. Furthermore, it provides livelihood to 50 lakh farmers and direct employment to 20 lakh people across the manufacturing and supply chain segments.
The agri-based alcobev industry is a significant contributor to the state exchequer, a huge employment generator and a growth engine for the state economy, clearly aligning with the PM’s ‘Make in India’ and ‘Viksit Bharat’ vision,” Iyer added.
