LuxExclusive brings ‘100 Years of Burrata’ celebration to India
LuxExclusive Marketing marked a major cultural and culinary milestone by bringing the internationally acclaimed “100 Years of Burrata” celebration to India for the first time. Held in Mumbai on December 16 and 17, 2025, the event introduced Indian audiences to a century of Italian gastronomic heritage, blending history, craftsmanship and fine dining.
The two-day celebration featured Michelin-starred Chef Giovanni Papi, who curated an exclusive culinary journey at EVE Worli. Hosted by WGFAD in association with LuxExclusive Marketing, the event honoured Burrata, often referred to as the Queen of Italian Cheeses, on the centenary of its creation in Andria, in Italy’s Puglia region. Originating in the early 1920s, Burrata evolved from a humble, resourceful creation into a globally celebrated delicacy known for its soft mozzarella exterior and rich, creamy stracciatella core.
The programme included an intimate Chef’s Table experience on December 16, offering select guests an immersive view into Chef Papi’s contemporary interpretation of traditional Italian cuisine. The following evening brought together leading figures from the hospitality, luxury and media sectors to celebrate Burrata’s enduring legacy and its influence on global gastronomy.

A key highlight of the event was the unveiling of a commemorative book chronicling Burrata’s 100-year journey, authored by Doug Singer, Flavel Monteiro and Sumit Govind Sharma. The book explores the cheese’s historical roots, cultural significance and culinary evolution, and has already received global recognition, winning Best Italian Food Culture Book in the World at the 31st Gourmand World Cookbook Awards in Riyadh.
Chef Giovanni Papi said he was excited to bring real Italian cooking traditions to India. "Burrata is the heart and soul of Italian food, a century of artisanal craftsmanship and passion. I am honoured to celebrate this milestone in Mumbai and share the real tastes of my home country with India's versatile eaters. Doug Singer, who co-wrote the book to honour Burrata, said, "Writing about Burrata's century-long journey has been a fascinating look at how a simple idea that came about out of necessity became a global culinary icon.
