Mount Everest Breweries enters Karnataka
Mount Everest Breweries Ltd. (MEBL), part of Associated Kedia Group, has officially entered Karnataka through the acquisition of Cheers Breweries Ltd. in Mysuru. This move marks the company’s 12th state of operation and is a strategic milestone in its aggressive expansion plan across South India.
The acquisition, valued at approximately ₹300 crore, includes investment in acquisition, capital expenditure and working capital, and is funded through internal accruals and structured debt. With an annual production capacity of 1.5 million hectolitres, the Mysuru facility significantly boosts MEBL’s total production capacity by nearly 75 percent, from 2 million to 3.5 million hectolitres.
This development is expected to generate ₹350-400 crore in incremental revenue by FY28, supporting a projected topline growth of 15–18 percent over the next 3–4 years. It aligns with MEBL’s broader vision of operating in 20 states by FY26 and capturing an 8 percent national market share by 2030.
Commenting on the expansion, Vedant Kedia, Director at MEBL said, “Karnataka represents the future of India’s beer culture, and our entry into the state marks both a strategic and symbolic milestone. With the Mysuru acquisition, we are scaling up production and cementing our presence in South India. Bengaluru, with its young and experimental consumer base, makes Karnataka a promising hub for us, and retailers have already shown strong interest in partnering with MEBL.”
With production having begun in early September, the Mysuru plant is set to become a key southern hub, enabling faster distribution to Karnataka, Puducherry, Goa, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala. The rollout will happen in two phases, covering all 71 depots in Karnataka by November 2025.
MEBL’s Karnataka portfolio will feature flagship brands such as Mount’s 6000, Lemount and STOK in multiple SKUs, along with 20 litre keg options for the on-trade segment.
