MP CM Mohan Yadav considers statewide  prohibition

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has indicated a significant policy shift toward liquor prohibition in the state, drawing parallels to Gujarat’s dry model. Speaking at an event in Panna, CM Yadav revealed that the government is considering the closure of all liquor shops, replacing them with milk outlets to promote animal husbandry and cow protection.

The state has already banned liquor sales within the municipal limits of 19 cities, including Ujjain, Omkareshwar, and Chitrakoot, effective April 1, 2025. This move is part of the newly approved excise policy under which 47 composite liquor shops have been shut. Composite shops sell both Indian-made foreign liquor and country liquor.
