Pernod Ricard has acquired South African gin brand Inverroche, aiming to position it as Africa’s first global luxury spirit brand.
The French spirits giant initially acquired a majority stake in Inverroche Distillery in July 2019. On February 6, 2025, Pernod Ricard completed the acquisition by purchasing the remaining shares, making Inverroche its first wholly owned African spirits brand.
Inverroche is currently available in 25 markets worldwide. The South African distillery is known for its sustainable production methods and the use of indigenous fynbos botanicals, giving its gin a unique identity.
Beyond its product appeal, Inverroche plays a vital socio-economic role in the Stilbaai and Riversdale region, where 70 percent of its workforce comprises women. Pernod Ricard’s acquisition is expected to fuel the brand’s expansion and enhance its global positioning in the premium spirits segment.
