Russian spirits producers are witnessing rapid growth in shipments to India, signalling the country’s rising importance as an export destination. According to data from the Federal Centre for Agricultural Export Development (Agroexport) of Russia’s Ministry of Agriculture, exports of vodka, gin, whisky and liqueurs to India reached around 520 tonnes in the first ten months of 2025, valued at approximately USD 900,000.

As reported by Russian business daily Vedomosti, this represents a threefold increase in volume and a nearly fourfold rise in value compared to the same period in 2024. Vodka emerged as the dominant category, accounting for exports worth about USD 760,000, underlining its central role in driving overall growth. The sharp uptick highlights India’s growing appeal for Russian producers of strong alcoholic beverages.

Traditionally, key importers of Russian spirits have included Kazakhstan, Georgia, China, Azerbaijan, Armenia and Belarus. However, India’s accelerating demand points to a shift in market dynamics. The surge reflects evolving consumer preferences and positions India as a promising market for Russian spirits exporters seeking new growth opportunities.
