SOM's Woodpecker beer arrives in Puducherry

Woodpecker Distilleries and Breweries, a subsidiary of SOM Distilleries and Breweries Ltd. (SDBL), has introduced Woodpecker Premium Beer in Puducherry with India’s first-ever twist cap, making it the third Indian city after Bengaluru and Delhi.

Woodpecker brings with it an effortless drinking experience, no bottle opener required. This cutting-edge cap design, complete with vibrant identifiers—yellow for Woodpecker Glide (mild beer) and black for Woodpecker Crest (strong beer). Each bottle is stamped with a clear "Twist to Open" message and comes with an anti-counterfeit custom neck profile, enhancing both ease and security.

Crafted using two-row imported barley, premium Indian malts, and hops from Germany’s Rainier region, Woodpecker is said to be India’s first cross-malt beer, blending two malt types for added depth. Woodpecker also leads with its direct-print bottle technology, replacing traditional paper labels to reduce waste and elevate visual appeal.

Woodpecker’s entry into Puducherry is supported by a unique marketing campaign titled "Make Space", which highlights a lifestyle of celebration, friendships, and living in the moment.

In Puducherry, Woodpecker Glide Mild Beer is priced at ₹150 for a 650 ml bottle, ₹120 for a 500 ml can, and ₹83 for a 330 ml bottle. Meanwhile, Woodpecker Crest Strong Beer is available at ₹172 for a 650 ml bottle, ₹138 for a 500 ml can, and ₹96 for a 330 ml bottle.
