Brown-Forman owned The Glendronach has collaborated with Emmy-nominated composer Rob Lewis to create a music track built entirely from the sounds of the whisky-making process, as reported by industry reports.

The project seeks to explore the connection between sound, taste, and whisky drinking, with the track designed to be paired with a dram of The Glendronach 12 Year Old. The composition, titled “Valley of the Brambles” (a Gaelic translation of the distillery’s name), layers ambient sounds such as birdsong, the crunch of gravel, and the resonance of casks to mirror the whisky’s flavour journey.

Lewis explained that every sound was captured at the distillery and manipulated into percussion, textures, and pitched elements. The piece reflects master blender Dr Rachel Barrie’s description of The Glendronach 12 as reaching a “Sherry crescendo.”

The initiative has also drawn commentary from Oxford University gastrophysicist Professor Charles Spence, who described it as an example of “sonic seasoning” – the pairing of bespoke soundscapes with complex flavour experiences.

The track is now available on Spotify, with a behind-the-scenes video released on YouTube, offering whisky enthusiasts a new way to engage with the spirit through music.
