As part of a landmark upskilling initiative, the Tourism and Hospitality Skill Council (THSC), in collaboration with VISA, felicitated successful candidates who have completed training for the role of paragliding ground crew chief. This unique training and certification effort aims to bolster the adventure tourism sector by equipping ground personnel with essential skills and the formal recognition they have long deserved.

The certificate distribution ceremony, organised by THSC’s training partner, Samarpit Media Society, took place at Rainbow Hall, ITBP Camp, Dehradun. The event was graced by Poonam Chand, Additional Secretary, Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board (UTDB), and was attended by Parnal Vats, Senior Manager, VISA, and Abhishek Anand, Vice President – Assessment & Certification, THSC.

The programme was made possible through the generous support of officials from the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and Border Security Force (BSF), whose cooperation during both the training and the ceremony was sincerely acknowledged by THSC.

Commenting on the occasion, Rajan Bahadur, CEO of THSC, said, “This upskilling initiative reflects our commitment to creating structured pathways for workforce development in emerging areas like adventure tourism. Through the RPL programme, we are formally recognising the capabilities of individuals who have long been contributing to the sector. We are grateful to our partners VISA, along with UTDB, Samarpit Media Society, BSF and ITBP, for their vital support.”

The programme aligns with THSC’s ongoing mission to strengthen the skilling ecosystem and empower individuals across the tourism and hospitality sectors with industry-relevant competencies and certification.
