United Breweries Ltd is all set to foray into the canned beer segment in Telangana with an investment of Rs 90 crore in setting up a canning line at its Nizam Brewery in Telangana.
The new facility, which is expected to become operational within a year, will add 0.4 million hectolitres to the brewery's existing 0.5 million hectolitres capacity, taking the total capacity to 0.9 million hectolitres, UBL said on Tuesday. Nizam Brewery is among the two breweries that the beer major has in Telangana, which is one of the largest beer markets in the country.
The brewer said the facility will cater to all its premium brands such as Kingfisher, Kingfisher Ultra, and Heineken in a canned format, which is increasingly gaining preference among consumers due to factors such as convenience and portability. So far, the company sold a small quantity of canned beer in Telangana, which it imported from neighbouring states like Maharashtra.
UBL said the investment is being made through internal accruals and the company already received all the requisite regulatory approvals, including the building permit order, which was issued by the Industrial Area Local Authority, Kothlapur on August 25, 2025.
