In a major relief for beer lovers in Karnataka, United Breweries Limited (UBL) has announced that it will not increase beer prices despite the recent tax hike by the state government.
Reacting to the recent beer tax hike in Karnataka, Vivek Gupta, MD and CEO of United Breweries Limited (UBL), highlighted that the state’s beer industry has faced three consecutive tax increases over the past 18 months, pushing up the MRP of beer by ₹10 to ₹60 per bottle across brands.
Despite these challenges, UBL has made a conscious decision to absorb a significant portion of the increased duties, particularly in the mainstream and premium segments. As a result, there will be no price increase for most of its key brands, including Kingfisher Strong, Kingfisher Ultra, and Kingfisher Ultra Max.
“Born in Bangalore, Kingfisher has long been one of Karnataka’s most loved brands. We deeply value the trust and loyalty of our consumers and remain committed to maintaining affordability. Our decision to hold prices reflects our dedication to delivering value, promoting responsible consumption, and staying true to our promise of bringing Good Times to our consumers,” Gupta stated.
