UK Trade Secretary Jonathan Reynolds is set to visit India this month to push forward Free Trade Agreement (FTA) negotiations amid India’s recent tariff cut on bourbon whiskey. The visit aligns with the UK's goal of strengthening bilateral ties across sectors.
India recently reduced import tariffs on bourbon whiskey from 150 percent to 100 percent, benefiting US exporters following President Donald Trump's criticism of India’s high trade levies during his White House meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Meanwhile, the UK continues lobbying New Delhi for greater market access for key products, including Scotch whisky, as the UK Scotch industry players push for lower tariffs in India’s expanding Scotch market.
