UP hosts first Excise Investors’ Summit
In a landmark move for India’s alcobev and ethanol sectors, the Uttar Pradesh government, through its Excise Department in collaboration with Invest UP, hosted the Excise Investors’ Summit 2025 in Lucknow today (Wednesday).
Inaugurated by state Excise Minister Nitin Agrawal, the summit marked a first-of-its-kind initiative, bringing together industry leaders, investors, and policymakers to drive innovation and unlock new investment avenues in UP’s excise ecosystem.
The event, held at the Indira Gandhi Pratishthan, showcased the state’s progressive policy reforms, its rapidly growing infrastructure, and its status as an emerging investment hub. Addressing the gathering, the Minister highlighted UP’s transformation under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, noting the state becoming India’s second-largest economy, top ethanol producer, and second in ease of doing business rankings. He also cited ₹11,000 crore worth of MoUs signed with Tamil Nadu as a sign of national confidence in UP’s growth.
Excise Commissioner Adarsh Singh emphasised the state’s ethanol-driven sustainability push, underlining UP’s leadership in the sector by converting by-products like molasses into green fuel valued at ₹4 lakh crore annually and boosting rural prosperity.
The summit also witnessed the official launch of the International Spirits & Wines Association of India (ISWAI) Book, signifying a key step towards informed policy and knowledge-sharing within the alcobev industry.
