WWE legend Ric Flair enters the world of spirits
WWE icon and two-time Hall of Famer Ric Flair has launched his own spirits brand, Flair Spirits, marking his entry into the alcohol industry. The retired wrestler’s lineup of spirits is expected to roll out in liquor stores and bars in the coming months, though pricing and exact availability are yet to be announced.
The Flair Spirits portfolio includes a vodka, gin, tequila, bourbon, and a limited-edition barrel-proof whiskey called “Woooosky.” Flair Vodka is a corn-based, five-times distilled spirit bottled at 81 proof, a possible nod to 1981 when Ric first won the NWA World Heavyweight Championship. Flair Gin, also distilled from corn and bottled at 81 proof, features five botanicals: juniper, coriander, caraway, bitter almond, and angelica root.
The collection also features Flair Bourbon, an 8-year-old whiskey produced in Indiana by MGP. It is made from a mashbill of 75 percent corn, 23 percent rye, and 2 percent malted barley, aged in both 30 and 53 gallon barrels, and bottled at 100 proof. Flair Tequila, distilled in Jalisco, Mexico, is listed as “coming soon” on the brand’s website and expected to be bottled at 81 proof.
The centrepiece of the lineup is the limited-edition Woooosky Signature Series, a barrel-proof bourbon made from a mashbill of 88 percent corn, 9 percent rye, and 3 percent malted barley. Though proof and age details remain undisclosed, the whiskey is aged in Colorado and packaged in a collector’s decanter featuring a miniature glass sculpture of Ric in his 1980s prime, complete with aviator sunglasses and a suit. Topped with a gold cork, Woooosky is anticipated to be the most premium offering from Flair Spirits.
